Received this fish as a gift and I know nothing about fish. Please teach me what I need to have, need to know, and the proper way to take care of it

Obviously not gonna keep it in this tank. The fish’s tank came in this size for the gift. Any suggestions for that too???

Hello good folks (first time poster in this sub here).
My wife and I have been talking about getting our son a small tank and a few fish for Christmas. He is only 5 but shows a real interest in animals (frogs, lizards, bugs) more so than anything else in his life which is why we think it would be a great gift for him and something we can use as a "teaching experience". Sadly I never had an aquarium before which is what brings me here.
Of course my wife and I will supervise everything to make sure the fish are taken care of properly but I am a bit worried he may be too young.
Can anyone suggest some good beginner/low maintenance tanks and fish? I would prefer to not buy from the box stores and am currently trying to find some local stores near me where I can go and ask questions. Just thought I would ask around here first to try and educate myself.

Get a 10 gallon guppy tank. Guppies are very hardy (tears about dead fish is something you'll want to avoid) and can be quite pretty if you pick up nice ones.

Top Comment: If there is no 5UP gifts, I will probably for go for 2UP 50 times. Shouldnt take too long with scrap minigame. The sidequests are horrendous with lvl80 enemies.
